Beverly is one of the largest urban historic districts in the country and is located in the southwest corner of Chicago. Beverly is bordered by 87th and 111th Streets on the north and south and is accessible from Hwy 94 and Hwy 57. Ashland and Western are the east and west boundaries. Beverly is about 15 miles from downtown and 30 minutes on the Metra from the Loop. Just to the south of Beverly is neighbor, Morgan Park.

Wooded oversized lots are the perfect setting for Beverly's magnificantly diverse architecture, which reflects the community's history and a long-standing emphasis on quality housing stock. Brick, frame, stucco and stone homes designed by George Maher, Howard Van Doren Shaw, Frank Lloyd Wright, Daniel Burnham, and John & Murray Hetherington can be found in this beautiful tree-lined neighborhood on Chicago's south side. Many of the homes in this community of 39,000 were constructed around the 1930s and are of historic significance.

Before 1839, landholding was not regularized and John Blackstone bought 3,000 acres (which comprise today's Beverly/Morgan Park) from the US government. Five years later, Blackstone sold most of the property to Thomas Morgan who farmed and hunted the area from 91st to 119th Street with his family. In 1867, Morgan's property was sold to the Blue Island Land and Building Company, which was backed by many Rock Island Railroad executives. A commuter line was then rerouted to serve Beverly Hills, which was annexed to the City of Chicago the same year and a large variety of architects went to work developing this early "suburb".

Community attractions include the annual Home Tour, South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade, Falling Leaf Festival and the History Mystery Bike Tour.
