In 1867, Morgan's property was sold to the Blue Island Land and Building Company, which was backed by many Rock Island Railroad executives. A commuter line was then rerouted to serve Beverly Hills, which was annexed to the City of Chicago the same year and a large variety of architects went to work developing this early "suburb".
